Points to note during the installation of explosion-proof cameras

2026-4-9      View:
Explosion-proof cameras are primarily utilized in financial institutions, public security agencies, prisons, commercial venues, subways, mining industries, and various harsh environments. They are capable of effectively dealing with malicious human sabotage and enduring the rigors of harsh natural and production environments, thereby minimizing the damage caused to the cameras by these factors. So, what are the key points that require special attention when installing explosion-proof cameras?

       I. Sealing treatment of inlet
      1. The inlet of the explosion-proof camera must be sealed with a rubber sealing ring. It is strictly prohibited to use other methods such as filling with sealing compound or asbestos rope as substitutes. Additionally, it is forbidden to fill any substance inside the cavity, as this will damage its explosion-proof performance.
      2. Do not discard the sealing ring and its matching compression nut at the inlet for the sake of convenient connection.
      3. It is prohibited to combine multiple single-strand conductors and insert them into the inlet through a single-hole elastic sealing ring.
      4. The oil stains on the rubber sealing ring should be wiped off in a timely manner to prevent it from aging and deteriorating.

      II. Structure and line protection
It is strictly prohibited to arbitrarily alter the structure, components, and internal wiring of explosion-proof cameras. Fastening bolts cannot be arbitrarily replaced or missing. The elastic sealing gaskets and metal shims at the excess cable entry and exit points must maintain their factory-sealed state, and the compression nuts must be tightened to ensure good sealing at the cable entry points.

      III. Maintenance Safety Specifications
      1. In explosion-hazardous areas, it is strictly prohibited to conduct live maintenance on electrical equipment and lines, and it is forbidden to schedule power on or power off at a specific time. During maintenance with power off, a warning sign reading "Work in Progress, Do Not Switch On" must be hung at the power disconnection point.
      2. If it is necessary to dismantle the explosion-proof camera for maintenance in a safe area, the power cable ends of the on-site equipment must be properly explosion-proofed, and it is strictly prohibited to power them on.

      IV. Daily operation and maintenance
      1. During routine operation, maintenance, and inspection, it is advisable to avoid opening the housing of the explosion-proof camera. If opening is necessary, the power supply must be cut off first.
      2. If the flameproof enclosure is opened, the flameproof surface must be properly protected to avoid damage. During maintenance, the flameproof surface should be placed upward and must not be directly in contact with the ground. After cleaning, the flameproof surface should be coated with phosphate paste or 204 anti-rust oil.

      V. Equipment archive management
Equipment files should be established for all explosion-proof cameras, covering all stages from equipment installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, to explosion-proof degradation and scrapping. Technical data from each period should be comprehensively collected and organized, archived and preserved, and each equipment should be numbered individually.

VI. Special Installation Requirements for Explosion-proof Infrared Cameras
Explosion-proof infrared cameras rely on infrared lights paired with CCDs to emit infrared light, which is reflected by objects and captured by the CCD camera lens for imaging. Therefore, when installing explosion-proof infrared cameras, it is important to avoid objects that are completely black, open areas, and water, which are prone to absorbing infrared light. If infrared light is absorbed or weakened, it will significantly reduce the effective illumination effect of the infrared lights, thereby affecting the quality of the surveillance footage.
In high-risk environments, it is advisable to use explosion-proof products that meet national standards. The explosion-proof cameras produced by Shenzhen Rongfang are widely used in high-risk areas such as petroleum, chemical, natural gas, and ports.
